Every dentist I have spoken with uses different words to describe like the same kind of teeth. It's very confusing. Are there common words that I can ask them to use so that I can understand my options?
Yes. Here are some common words, and their meanings:
Denture:
- are removable teeth; can be removed by the patient
- rest on the gum tissue
- should be removed and cleaned after you eat
- move in your mouth when you eat and speak
- should be removed at night
Overdenture:
- are removable teeth; can be removed by the patient and snap or clip onto dental implants.
- more stable than a denture
- rest on the gum tissue
- should be removed and cleaned after you eat
- move slightly in your mouth when you eat and speak
- should be removed at night

Bridge:
- are permanent teeth; cannot be removed by the patient
Overdenture:
